Enviromental - Luis Flores
Environmental factors that affect Diabetes is a spectrum of many categories. These categories include
- The diet of a person beginning from Childhood
- Breastfeeding: If the mother has gestational diabetes OR breastfeeds too much, the baby is at risk for low blood sugar, which may lead to diabetes. This environmental factors applies directly to the baby.

- Exposure to viruses- EV Infections, caused by Enteroviruses exist in each continent of the world. Diseases caused by them may mess with the immune system and make it weaker. One of the effects is that antibodies are created that attack the pancreas and may cause diabetes. These viruses are located in every part of the world, but are more common in poorer parts.

These factors, though, vary by person depending on the type of diabetes he/she has.
For type two diabetes, the cause for the condition is mostly blamed on how the person acts, decisions, behavior, etc. But that factor for it is also caused by the environment of the person. These include
Stress - When a person feels stress, the body responds by increasing the amounts of stress hormones and blood pressure to fight it off. Everyone knows that stress may be caused by environmental pressures. If too much of this occurs, too much glucose fuel (which the body uses to do the fight-or-fight process) is stored in cells outside the body, and less of it is left in the pancreas.
Barriers to Physical Activity- "People used to move their bodies in the course of work, food gathering, transportation, and recreation. Most of this is now done by machines, so you have to consciously seek physical activity. This is much harder when you have too many other demands, not enough support, and mixed motivation. (“Life is hard enough already without having to exercise.”)"
